Video Transcript

Binita P. Kraus:

00:00:00 I don't think you need to be a certain cookie cutter person to work here.

00:08:00 Hello. Where's the clapper? I need the clapper.

00:14:00 I've learned that it's not really about diversity, equity, inclusion, it's truly just about connecting with people, and once I saw it in that way, there was no stopping me. When I meet these people from different life paths or different stories, different journeys and how they got here, it's amazing to me.

Alexander M. Kerford:

00:36:00 When I was initially hired, my wife got a letter in the mail saying, welcome to Edward Jones, and that made a big impression on us as to what type of company we were going to be a part of.

Moira Klein-Swormink:

00:49:00 For me, I said, I'm going to go and work at Edward Jones for two years, then I'll decide what I'm going to do. Eight years later, I'm still here, and the reason for that is that this firm has growth opportunities that are stimulating, that help create momentum in your career.

Monica Reha:

01:09:00 I grew up with parents who have disabilities and my mom is blind and has been since she was a little kid. I saw the things that they had to do that kind of made things a little bit harder for them. And then fast-forward to being a parent myself. I have four kids and two of them have invisible disabilities, so I started to raise my hand and volunteer for projects that had to do with disability inclusion, and eventually just sort of turned it into a career.

Vanessa Garcia Randazzo:

01:37:00 Helping our community was really important to me. Edward Jones as an organization has made that commitment as well. And for me, that just speaks volumes to have a company so large be so committed to our communities and really showing up for one another.

Binita P. Kraus:

01:52:00 Edward Jones has become that human classroom for me. It makes me a better neighbor, spouse, friend.

Moira Klein-Swormink:

02:00:00 Edward Jones will create opportunities for you to thrive, to find what matters most to you, and to bring that to work each day.

Alexander M. Kerford:

02:08:00 Edward Jones is a place where you can fully bring yourself.

How we define Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity Icon

Diversity

We define diversity as all the multiple dimensions of identity that make you uniquely you. It’s what makes up the story of who you are and informs the perspectives you bring to your professional relationships with clients and colleagues. And it is this collection of distinct backgrounds and authentic experiences that will help us grow even stronger.

DEI Equity Icon

Equity

Equity is often confused for equality, which is when we treat all individuals the same way. But when it comes to equity at Edward Jones, we focus on ensuring everyone has what they need to reach their individual potential. Accommodating individual needs through tailored professional development, training, mentoring and other resources to help enable their success.

DEI Equity Icon

Inclusion

When diversity and equity intersect, we create true inclusion or a place where everyone feels like they belong — clients and colleagues alike. A space where people feel seen, heard, respected, valued and understood. Where all individuals feel comfortable being their authentic selves, and where all are empowered to contribute.

How we hold ourselves accountable

Different perspectives make for better business,  and Edward Jones is truly for all — regardless of background or demographics. We have underscored this importance by setting ambitious representation goals to increase the number of people of color and women among leadership and financial advisors in the U.S. and Canada by the end of 2025:

  • 20% people of color and gender parity among leaders in our U.S. and Canada headquarters
  • 15% people of color and 40% women among U.S. and Canadian home office general partners
  • 15% people of color and 30% women among U.S. and Canadian financial advisors

At Edward Jones, we are anchored by our purpose: To partner for positive impact to improve the lives of our clients and colleagues and, together, better our communities and society. To see how we are putting our purpose in action and progressing toward these goals, check out Purpose Inclusion and Citizenship | Edward Jones.

DEI isn’t new at Edward Jones.

Long before diversity, equity and inclusion were ubiquitous terms in our society, these concepts were embedded in our business model and in our core values: our clients’ interests come first, we value working in partnership, and we value and respect individuals and their contributions. Our longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is also rooted in Ted Jones’ (our second Managing Partner) vision to bring Wall Street to Main Street in rural communities because they were underserved populations who didn’t have good access to the financial markets. Today, we have branch offices covering more than 68% of U.S. counties and serving a rich mosaic of more than 8 million clients.

“I have the freedom to show up authentically.”

Welcome to a community where you are seen and heard — and your background and opinions are valued. Some of our associates are comfortable bringing the entirety of who they are to the workspace. Others prefer to draw a more distinct line between their professional and personal selves, and we respect that. No matter how you choose to show up, pull up a chair and take a seat. We value you for who you are.

Why we value continuous learning

We value growing and learning every day to maximize the impact we make as individual associates. We believe that begins with encouraging a continuous learning mindset. From our Five-point commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to regularly offering diversity, equity and inclusion programming, we develop the skills of our leaders and associates to improve our client and colleague experiences.

Annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference

Our annual DEI Conference is the only event of its kind at Edward Jones to bring together hundreds of leaders across different roles. Colleagues come together to grow, learn and build deeper, stronger connections. This helps reinforce being a place of belonging where individuals — regardless of background or experience — each have a story and perspective to share that is not just encouraged but vital.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion 365

DEI 365 is a portfolio of learning opportunities, programs and immersive experiences offered all yearlong to strengthen cultural awareness and understanding of diverse experiences. Programming includes: themed presentations (in-person or via Zoom) featuring guest speakers and panels, facilitator-led discussion groups on both timely topics and ongoing challenges such as mental health, as well as on-demand videos in which colleagues share lessons learned from their compelling personal experiences.

DEI Learning Academy

We offer a collection of courses to train colleagues in topics such as Foundations in DEI, Unconscious Bias and Allyship for All. These workshops help participants cultivate diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; recognize bias and explore ways to create a space where everyone feels respected, included and valued; and identify situations to advocate and be an ally.
